Must the Bride Say a Speech

Q: As the bride, is it a must to say a speech?

A: As the bride, you're actually not obligated to do anything in particular. That's the beauty of it all....this is your day and you have every right to manipulate tradition to best suit your personal preferences. I must say that there will be some guests that 'expect' the bride to make a bit of a speech, but to be honest with you, if this is not something you're comfortable doing, don't feel obligated to do so. Of all the speeches I've heard at weddings, I personally find the bride's speech to be the most sentimental one, and the one that most guests respond to the most. So if you decide to go ahead with it, rest assured that regardless of what you say people will love it. If you decide not to proceed with a speech, nobody will hold it against you. Just do what feels right to you, and if it feels right to just decide on the day of the wedding, that's okay too.
