Wording for Place Cards

Q: How does the standard place card work. Whose name goes on each card (family or couple)?

A: With regards to the place cards, the general rule of thumb is that you write out a place card for each couple. If someone is bringing a guest, you indicate "____& guest" on the place card. Each card should not indicate more than two people, unless it represents a family such as "Mr and Mrs John Doe and family". Make sure the place card also indicates the table number. By paying so much attention to the names, it may be easy to forget!
