Mother vs Stepmother

Q: My parents are divorced and both remarried. They get along, but I have a problem... whose house do I get ready at? My stepmother says I should get ready where my dad is and my mom says no way, I carried you for nine months and took care of you all your life so you will get ready at my house. Where do I go and how do I tell the other parent.

A: With regards to your parents, and whose house to get ready at, I would say that you probably should stray from getting ready at either house. It sounds like either way you look at it, you're going to get yourself into a sticky situation and there's no sense in adding extra stress to an already stressful day! If you have your own home, I would suggest getting ready there. Otherwise, you can get ready at a hotel, or even better.....book appointments for someone else to do your hair and make up. That way, you're preparing yourself at that location and all you have left to do is put on the dress.
