Essential Questions to ask Your Floral Designer
by Robbi Ernst III

Flowers provide such a key piece of décor for your wedding, so before you put that deposit down, make sure you have asked the right questions beforehand. Here is a list of the most important things that you might want to ask of your potential wedding florist.

Questions to Ask:

  1. May I see examples of your work, sketches, or sample wedding albums?
  2. Are you familiar with the ceremony/reception site? If not, will you visit the site beforehand with me?
  3. What suggestions do you have given my needs and budget?
  4. What is your guarantee regarding freshness, availability, and substitutions?
  5. What rental services do you provide?
  6. Will you build a floral scheme around fabric swatches?
  7. What is your payment and cancellation policy?
  8. What is your delivery policy?
  9. Do you move and arrange flowers from the ceremony to reception site? Is there a fee?
  10. Do you preserve bouquets?
  11. What budget ranges do you work with?
  12. What is your postponement policy?
  13. Do you do more than one wedding at a time?
  14. Are you insured?
  15. Can I see a sample contract?
  16. Who are the other vendors with whom you work regularly?

Asking these questions is no guarantee that everything will go perfectly with your florist, but you are much more likely to have success if you’ve done the homework beforehand. Best wishes!
