Wedding Planner or Wedding Director?

Do you need a Wedding Planner or a Wedding Director? As little girls we dream of our wedding day. Walking down the aisle to our groom and kissing our father`s cheek goodbye as we stand at the altar. Then we grow up and get engaged; showing off our pretty ring that our Knight in Shining Armor has given us. We begin the long awaited journey of planning our Special Wedding Day with our past dreams in mind.

Today, most brides want to plan their own weddings with the exception of having someone help them find reputable vendors, inexpensive alternatives to otherwise Expensive items, the best locations, and being the mediator in family disagreements.

While planning a wedding can be fun and exciting, some brides opt to hire a wedding planner merely to take the stress of having to plan their Big Day on their own. However, what is the difference between a wedding planner and a wedding director. One Vendor states they do Wedding Planning and the other says they do Wedding Day Direction.

A Wedding Planner is one that assists the bride throughout her wedding planning process. From contacting vendors, meeting with the bride at different locations, helping the couple choose colors, design ideas and more, to ensuring everything is set for the Big Day.

A Wedding Director is one that assists the couple and family on the day of the wedding. The Wedding Director usually arrives one hour prior to the ceremony to ensure the Bride has everything she needs to passing out the flowers and pinning on the boutonnieres. Then the Wedding Director directs the wedding party down the aisle and into their places at the altar. The Wedding Director stays throughout the ceremony and assists with the reception. Making sure the DJ is set up and the reception locale is to the Couples` instruction.

Now some Wedding Planner`s not only assist with the wedding planning but also act as a Wedding Director on the Day of the Wedding.
