Designer Albums

Wedding photography albums have come a long way from your mother's plastic
covered white silk album. The days of white albums full of color 8X10's
is long gone. Like walking down the cereal isle of the supermarket with
all the new choices also comes more confusion. Your professional photographer
is your best source to help you decide on the best options for you.
There are lots of options and many different types of albums. Although
not all photographers will carry all albums and options, albums imported
from Europe use exotic materials such as silver relief, mother of pearl
and fine leather. The big change in Wedding albums has been on the inside.
Multi format albums have been available for years, allowing 8X10's, 10X10's,
2-5x7's, 1-5X7 2-5X5's and 4-5X5's to be mixed and matched to create a
more interesting display.
Another type of album that is being used is a scrapbook type of album
mostly used in Europe. To call it a scrapbook is an injustice because
they are beautifully bound books. The difference is the pages they are
no mats involved, making the album thinner and less expensive. The pictures
are mounted directly onto the page, allowing more creativity when positioning
pictures.
The hottest new album style is DIGITAL the images in the album are laid
out more like a magazine then a wedding album pictures can be inset into
one another edge effects can be applied, drop shadows added, the sky is
the limit.
Keep in mind that just because an effect can be done, does not mean that
it should. Over using digital effects can ruin a wedding album. "Less
is More" so more then ever it is important to work closely with your photographer
to add that special touch that will make your wedding album breathtaking.
