Choosing a gown that's right for you
by Valencienne
The
job as designer is to marry exquisite and original detailing to the basic
style that best flatters each bride's body. Women who understand line
and shape perfectly for their daytime wardrobe are often at a loss when
they shop for a bridal gown because it is a fashion purchase unlike any
other. Brides-to-be are often astonished when shown the enormous amount
of possibilities. For example, a woman who has always worn tailored clothes
may feel she can't carry off, say, bare shoulders, a fitted bodice or
a full skirt, but one or more of these may be perfect for her. A great
gown has to start with the right fabric. The choice of colour will depend
on the bride's complexion. Her coloring may demand pure white or it may
be better serviced with an ivory or blush. Today's bride can also be more
adventurous with her choice of fabric and fabric colours.
Your wedding gown will be the most important gown you will ever wear
and should be a reflection of your very essence. It is believed that the
wedding gown will always have an important sense of tradition and permanence,
even in this age of rapid change. Gowns are a form of art and it is always
hoped that they will be valued as timeless heirloom pieces to be proudly
passed on through the generations.
