Where do the doves go after being released?
These doves are trained to return home from up to 300 km away.
Does it matter what the weather is like?
If people are outside then the birds can be released. (light rain or snow,
but not if it is cold, raining or high winds are present)
Who cleans up their mess?
Any
accidents on people we will clean up after. This has not happened yet,
but if it does we will pay for the dry cleaning.
How are the doves trained?
When 6 weeks old the doves are locked up in a loft for 1 week. The
second week they are placed on top of the loft in an open cage. The third
week they are taken a short distance away from the loft and released.
Each week thereafter they are released from a location further away.
Do other birds attack them?
Falcons do, but because they go directly home they usually do not
encounter this.
