Silk Flowers – A Refreshing Alternative
by Hibiscus Florals

There is a growing trend in the use of silk/dried flowers for weddings as an alternative to fresh flowers. According to Wedding Flowers magazine 2003 issue, "Fabulous fabric flowers look set to become popular more than ever this year. We love them because 1) You can have all your favorite flowers whatever the season. 2) The blooms won't wilt or fade during the celebrations. 3) Your bouquets will last forever!".

Many of today's brides choose quality silk bouquets and arrangements over fresh as long as they have a realistic look. When choosing silk and fabric flowers, ensure that they are of good quality and will not lose their shapes. Your florist must be able to recreate floral arrangements as they look in real life. Attention to making your bouquet look "botanically-correct" is an important detail. Silk flowers must prompt the guests to want to touch and feel your bouquet to confirm their suspicions.

Gone are the days when Aunt Marie tied a bunch of plastic flowers together with ribbon to help with the wedding budget. Florists now are able to use life-like blooms in their creations and wire their stems the same as they do with real flowers. Thanks to a booming industry the cost of silk bouquets can be kept lower than that of fresh and last way beyond the 25th wedding anniversary.

Silk bouquets are being used by the bride and members of the wedding party as keepsakes. Stunning arrangements are made by placing colored glass/rocks in clear vases to compliment the bouquets.
