Cutting the Wedding Guest List

Q: How do I handle cutting the guest list on both sides of the family?

A: Cutting down the guest list is really tough on everyone. Of course, in a perfect world you could invite everyone you know to your wedding, but realistically speaking, you have to draw the line somewhere. You have various options as to who gets cut, you just need to be consistent and make sure that both sides of the family adhere to the same rules, to keep it fair. You can cut out friends, co-workers, children under a certain age, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. Just pick a category and be consistent in your decision making. The easiest thing to do is usually to cut those under 19 years of age, co-workers and distant friends, followed by distant family members.
