Wedding Themes

Q: I would like to have a theme for my wedding. Any ideas? Also, how can I make my day very special and romantic?

A: With respect to the theme for your wedding, there are so many themes out there that I could not possibly name them all. There are many ways you can approach theme selection:

1. OBVIOUS THEMES
Obvious themes are ones that are very deliberate and intricately detailed and involve careful planning of each angle and aspect of the day. Such themes include:

- Medieval theme
- Hawaiian theme
- Christmas theme
- Cowboy theme
- Elvis theme
- Hollywood theme
- Princess theme
.....and so on.

2. MOOD THEMES
Mood themes are subtle themes that are usually in the background and are very intentional yet depict moods and ideas rather than blatantly obvious concepts. Such themes include:

- Simple Elegance
- Traditional
- Modern
- Chic
- Old Fashioned
- Casual
- Elegant

3. SEASONAL THEMES
Seasonal themes relate directly to seasons of the year or to common elements to a season. An example would be; if you're getting married at a winery, your theme could be grapes. Other thematic ideas include:

- Summer theme
- Spring theme
- Winter theme
- Autumn theme
- Sunshine
- Rain
- Halloween
- Valentine's

When it comes to themes, there's really no limit to the possibilities. I hope these lists have at the very least provided you with some ideas or a thematic approach that might be useful.

Your last question dealt with setting a romantic tone for your wedding. The best way to do so is by setting a relaxing and romantic atmosphere. You can do so by dimming the lights and lighting several candles. Scented candles would add a special touch. Also, when you're arranging your seating plan, aim to seat only 6 people per table, rather than 8 or 10. The more intimate the setting the greater the chances of your guests catching on to the romantic theme.
