A: The answer actually depends on what kind of person you are. If you're the type of person that stays at a fairly consistent weight most of the time, I would say that purchasing the wedding dress 8-12 months in advance should be just fine. If your weight fluctuates quite a bit you may want to consider purchasing the dress 4-6 months before the wedding. With regards to the bridesmaids dresses,they should be purchased at least half a year prior to the wedding day. That will ensure that there is sufficient time for the girls to get a number of fittings done, find shoes to match, etc. Always remember that it is best to buy your dresses from reputable stores if you are buying them far in advance. Many stores have been known to take your deposit and shut down shop before you have a chance to pick up the gowns/dresses, so make sure you go to someone reputable that has been in business for several years. That minimizes the chances of something going wrong and offers more opportunity for recourse through a head office, should there be an error.
