Non-denominational wedding

Q: Do you know where to look for scripts of non-denominational ceremonies?

A: The beauty of non-denominational weddings is that they can be anything you want them to be, so no two scripts or templates are the same. My recommendation would be for you to contact your local wedding officiants to see if they would be able to send the information to you. Most would be delighted to do so, and they will have various non-denominational material/templates that you can obtain ideas from.

Remember that the focus of a non-denominational wedding is love, versus religion. Rather than focusing on a God that unites you, the focus becomes on the love that unites you on your special day. Here is a sample of how a non-denominational wedding may be structured - discussion and phrases about the love that binds you together is typically inserted between each section below:

  • Entrance / Music
  • Opening Words and Greeting
  • Legal Admonition
  • Readings
  • Address to the People
  • Charge to the Couple
  • Questions to the Bride and Groom
  • The Presentation of the Bride by parents or a loved one
  • A Poem or Short Reading
  • The Vows
  • The Exchange of Rings
  • The Declaration of Marriage
  • The Signing of the Register
  • Maybe a song here or a reading
  • The Introduction of the Couple
  • Recessional / Music

If you feel you require further assistance I would be happy to connect you with a wedding officiant that I work closely with and see if he can help you in any way.
