Mother of the Bride dress Q: I have tried on numerous "Mother of the Bride" ensembles and the one that looks the best on me happens to be ivory. Is it okay for the Mother of the Bride to wear ivory if the wedding gown is also ivory and the color theme is coral? The groom's mother is wearing a light taupe. A: I would have to say that since the wedding gown is ivory and not white the mother of the bride should try to avoid wearing ivory. Generally speaking, it would be alright, but since the bride's gown is the same colour, it might be a good idea to search for another outfit. If that outfit comes in different colours, that would be an easy solution. If not, an idea might be to take that dress to a seamstress and have her design it for you in a different colour. I can appreciate how difficult it is to find that outfit that is "just right" so perhaps having it made for you in a different colour would be the best solution. That said, if your daughter doesn't mind that your dress is ivory, go ahead and just purchase that outfit! The only thing that matters is that the bride is happy on her wedding day - what other people think should really not be an issue. It might be worthwhile to approach your daughter and see how she feels about this situation. |
