Losing weight before my wedding

Q: I have a wedding dress question. I bought my wedding dress already for my wedding that is taking place next year and am hoping to lose weight by then. Is it going to be difficult to get my dress (If I lose the amount of weight I am hoping to) sized at least 6 sizes smaller? It was THE DRESS and I couldn't pass it up, and it is non returnable. I really want to lose weight and as I said, if I lose what I want, the dress will be about 6-8 sizes to big!

A: This is a great question! By the way, I think that it's great that you're so enthused about losing the weight, and I'm sure you will! This is a great goal to achieve...way to go! That said, it's tough to predict what can be done with your dress, having not seen it before myself. In all honestly most dress styles can be easily fitted for you regardless of how drastic the alterations will be. Your best bet, just to be sure, would be to go back to the store it was purchased from, armed with the dress' item number, and ask the staff if they feel confident in reducing it by 6 sizes without compromising the integrity of the gown. They are more familiar with this type of thing, so it may be wise to double check. I don't think you'll have any major problems if you go right to the source and give them plenty of time!
