Receiving Line with Divorced Parents
Q: My parents are divorced and I don't know what to do in regards to a receiving line. We are having a wedding of about 200 people, and I really don't want it to be awkward. My mom doesn't live close by but my father isn't actively participating and helping with the wedding. Do you have any suggestions on what to do for this since I don't want tension from either side, but my fiancée wants a receiving line. What can I do?
A: This is a great question! There are a few things you can do to make this situation comfortable for everyone:
1. Have a receiving line with the Bridal Party only. Do not include any of the parents at all.
2. Have your mom at one end of the receiving line and your dad at the other end.
3. Have one parent greeting people at the receiving line and one parent greeting people at the door.
I hope this helps!
