Q: I am having a difficult time finding a suitable dress for my bridesmaids since one of them is a size 20+. How can I find a dress that will look good on a larger person? A: This is a great question! Let me begin by saying that I think it's very kind of you to be so sensitive about the style and colour of the bridesmaids dress that would best suit your future sister-in-law! That said, I would suggest that you try to select a colour the brings out the best in her. For example, if she has green eyes, maybe a green dress would accentuate her appearance and draw attention in a more positive direction. That's a good way to select colour. As far as the actual design goes, obviously, avoiding a tight fitting dress would be best. The bulk of the design should be at the very top of the dress, to attract more attention to the face and upper body. The middle portion and lower portions of the dress should be very plain and loose fitting. Avoid crinoline at all costs. It provides an unnecessary "poof". A knockout hairstyle and make up job will add perfection to the design and colour of the dress! |
